WHAT’S ON 2022

Odie‘s Odd Odyssey

Sensory Show

Join Odie as part of the ship’s crew on their treacherous journey home to Ithaca.  Head2Head’s story is based on Homer’s The Odyssey.  Alongside Odie and his friends, you will be entranced by the lotus flowers, escape from Cyclops, enjoy a little bit of luxury, be turned into a pig, lured by sirens, battle Scylla the 3-headed beast, and much more!  With plenty of singing, Makaton signing and multi-sensory moments, Odie’s Odd Odyssey will take you on a re-imagination of the famous ancient Greek myth.

Suitable for all, irrespective of age or stage of development.

Get to know the theatre (FREE Familiarisation Session)

Families of children and young people who are socially anxious or who are unfamiliar with a typical theatre environment can join our FREE familiarisation session at 12pm on the first day of each 2 day venue visit.

The session takes place between 12-2pm offering an approximate 15 min tour of the sets, a brief outline of the story and the opportunity to explore a few of the show’s sensory experiences. Then enjoy some games, craft activities and explore our Chill Out Zone. Bring a picnic and have a chance to socialise with others in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

FAQ

Below is a list of our most Frequently Asked Questions. We hope you find them helpful. If you need further information, please contact us.

KEEPING YOU SAFE

To continue to keep our families, carers and staff safe and provide the very best experience, we have implemented a number of important measures to reassure and protect everyone who visits Head2Head Sensory Theatre. These measures are implemented in accordance with the current advice and guidance from UK and local Government and will be continually reviewed

All persons attending, working and volunteering at a performance are advised not to attend if they are experiencing Covid symptoms

Actors take a lateral flow test the night before the performance

Hand sanitiser gel will be provided

If possible, please consider wearing masks when in a confined space

Where possible, surfaces will be sanitised

Finally, please respect other patrons, keeping your distance where you can. If you would like to discuss in more detail or have any feedback following your experience, please email reception@h2hsensorytheatre.com

DO I HAVE TO BOOK?

We do encourage you to book in advance as we keep the audience numbers small and have a maximum capacity.  If you wish to walk-in on the day please telephone to check availability (01372 278021). Please note we cannot guarantee admittance after the performance starts

IF I TURN UP TO A SHOW WITHOUT BOOKING, CAN I PAY BY CARD?

No, we cannot accept card payments at a show. However, we can take your details and will ask for payment at a later date

WHAT AGE ARE THE SHOWS SUITABLE FOR?

Shows are suitable for all ages. We ask for the age(s) of the participants before a show which helps us personalise the experience for them. We do ask that all children and young adults with special needs are supervised throughout the performance

IS IT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

Yes! All the venues are chosen carefully to ensure complete inclusion. This means venues are wheelchair accessible and often have a Hygiene Room and/or hoist and changing facilities suitable for those in a wheelchair and other disabilities and special needs. Please email to enquire about individual venues

ARE THERE FLASHING LIGHTS, STROBES AND SMOKE?

No, we do not use these

DO ADULTS HAVE TO PAY/ARE CARERS FREE?

Yes. Everyone attending Head2Head Sensory Theatre needs to buy a ticket. As a charity, we try to keep our charges to a minimum as we want everyone to be able to enjoy the magic of theatre. To make this as simple as possible, we charge a flat admission fee of £5 per person attending. If you are making a group booking, please email us first to discuss requirements. Children under 2 are FREE OF CHARGE

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY TICKET?

Please note we do not issue tickets. If you did not receive your confirmation email, please check your junk and spam folders. During busy periods, it can take up to 72 hours to receive your booking confirmation. If, after this time, you still do not see your confirmation email, please contact us at reception@h2hsensorytheatre.com

WHAT HAPPENS AT A SHOW?

This is a walkabout performance and will last 60-70 minutes.  A few seats will be available at each stopping point.  Our audience numbers are small but if your child feels anxious about a group of people and/or noise levels please do one of the following:

  • When an actor approaches you, put up your hand in a ‘stop’ sign and the actor will keep away until you signal them to return

  • Move away from the action and gradually bring your child closer when they feel comfortable

  • Visit the Chill Out Zone and return to the performance later

We also send a resource pack a week before the show packed full of information, puzzles, song lyrics, crafts and other activities to help make the experience as fun as possible. We also share with you a social story so your child knows what to expect at the show. Songs from the show are available to purchase on a USB for £5 inc postage & packing

CAN I TAKE PHOTOS?

Take as many photos as you like of the actors, props and stages and, of course, your own children and wards but we kindly ask that you respect others’ privacy and do not take photos that identify other patrons. Please share your photos with us too! We love photos. When sharing on social media please remember to tag us @h2htheatre and use the hashtag #h2htheatre

CAN I BRING A BAG AND FOOD AND DRINK?

We do not provide lockers so please expect to keep your belongings with you during a performance. You may also bring your own food and drink to enjoy a picnic before or after a show depending on the session you booked. We politely ask that you do not eat NUT products inside venues please and take all rubbish home with you

ARE TICKETS REFUNDABLE?

Tickets are non-refundable. However, should you be unable to attend for any reason, tickets can be exchanged for another performance, subject to availability. Please email us. In the unlikely event that Head2Head Sensory Theatre have to cancel a show, we will let you know as soon as possible and offer a refund or invitation to another performance.
